I started this blog to track the ups and downs of having a writing life. It has grown to include not only drafts of new work, but also news about events and achievements, and starting in 2011, a new feature on Saturdays called the Poetry Tow Truck that will share prompts and discussion that will hopefully help others maintain the writing life.
I live in the Chicago area where I teach middle school language arts and try to convince teenagers that words matter. I love my job – I get to share my love of words, have my summers to write, and get paid for it. Plus I can sometimes buy poetry books as a job-related expense.
I love Diet Coke, mowing the lawn, massages, live music, photography, yoga, dark chocolate, and yoga pants, not necessarily in that order. I have been writing as long as I can remember – I do it because it is a part of me. If you like what you see here, I thank you. Feel free to leave a comment. If you don’t, that’s all right as well. Thanks for stopping by.
