City of Literature

Today was a long day, but my conference this morning was extremely encouraging. I have some specific ideas (that aren’t too taxing) to strengthen the manuscript. It is always nice when someone tells you that what you are doing is worthwhile and meaningful. Thank you, Danny. Go, me!

Did you know that Iowa City is a Unesco World City of Literature? Today, in all of my wandering around from place to place, I enjoyed the public art books around the city. Yes, Chicago had cows…Iowa City has giant books.  Go figure. Here is a slideshow of a few of my favorites…

I unfortunately forgot to write down the artist names. I will try to do that tomorrow, after I have my second favorite part of my mini-vacation: a massage! ( The first favorite part is all the time for poems, of course.) Then I plan to hit the library to read and research some journals and possible markets/contests for my manuscript. A fruitful day.
