Once More Unto the Breach, Dear Friends

Tonight was the first meeting of my class for the week, so I had the day to myself again for some extra reading/writing/alone time to enjoy:

Rita Dove as permanent sidewalk art

Bridge over the Iowa River that takes me to the running/walking path every day

Random pretty things

The As and Bs of the Journals Section of the University Library

Read:

Back Issues of American Poetry Review, Alaska Quarterly, and Boulevard

“Knife” by Fleda Brown (on her blog – recommended by Molly Spencer)

Website archives of The Prose Poem

Listened:

MaybeSheWill – Not For Want of Trying (writing)

Lykke Li – Wounded Rhymes and Youth Novel (walking)

Frank Turner – England Keep My Bones (reading)

M83 – Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming (on and off all day)

Wrote:

Revisions of three older prose poems

Free-write about a church and a steeple

Free-write about words you are not supposed to use in poems

Free-write/draft of a poem starting “It would take too long to explain…”

Recorded:

Three short poems written in response to short films by Belgian video artist Marc Swoon Bildos – Marc chose them to be a part of his films – very exciting! More news on that as it develops.
